THIS WEEK: Consumers, Economic Growth, & Warsh Speaks at Jackson Hole

The week kicks off Tuesday with consumer confidence, which is expected to edge slightly higher. On Wednesday, we’ll get the second estimate of second-quarter economic growth after the initial report showed the economy expanding at a 1.5% annualized pace. Inflation will also be in focus, with consumer prices expected to have risen 0.2% in July while the annual inflation rate holds at 3.7%.

Friday could be the most important day of the week, with the annual revision to nonfarm payrolls providing a fresh look at the strength of the labor market. Fed Chair Kevin Warsh will also speak at Jackson Hole, giving investors another opportunity to hear how the central bank is thinking about inflation, the economy and the path for interest rates.
